Due to the Consumer Product Safety Improvement Act
which went into effect on February 10, 2009, the Materials Resource Center has begun an extensive and ongoing
project to adhere to these policies.
Although nonprofits and thrift stores are exempt from product testing, we know that many of the items found at the Materials Resource Center end up being used in classrooms and by children 12 years of age & under. Despite our exemption, the Materials Resource Center is committed to providing safe materials for our customers by screening and identifying products that may be used by children. Since our materials are not toys per se, any item we deem inappropriate for children is so labeled. Products we determine to be unsafe for our customers are not accepted. |
